AN EXAMPLE FOR STYLE AND FORMAT

The example below, which we are going to use for our Planning on Paper example is one of the more commonly used website table formats.

The table (above left) started off with three rows and three columns. Then the top row uses one cell on the left for the logo and the next two cells are merged horizontally for the main heading or title.

On the left two cells are merged vertically for the navigation bar and in the centre - one cell will hold the main text and one cell will hold the main picture content.

At the bottom two cells are merged horizontally for contact details.

Now we will colour the table cells using the Property Inspector as described in Step on Using Tables. In this simple example I have used the dominant colour in my logo for the navigation area and contact cell. But the main content areas have been left white for black text - remember black on white or white on black is the easiest to read ... otherwise any dark against light colour combination.

Also remember you are working in pixels for the width of the table. I suggest the overall width of the website pages is 700 pixels - which would be viewed well on most screens - whether older or newer computers.

Now you must fill in the text for your main heading and your content details and then, following your paper plan list the link words in your navigation bar >Save.

File > Preview in browser to check how the page looks in the browser software. Do this regularly as you work on your pages as this is how your website visitors see the pages through their browser software.
