GETTING ONLINE!

The most common barrier to getting connected to the Internet is technophobia - even people who are coping well with their computer can be frightened of even attempting to get online!

You need just three things to get started:
- a computer with enough power to handle the software
- the fastest modem you can afford
(prices are constantly coming down)
- a reliable and full Internet connection

Computer power:
You can access the Internet with almost any computer, but if you haven’t enough power to drive your browser software with your email program and graphics viewer in the background, you’ll get very frustrated.

So you are advised to have at least a Pentium III 500Mhz machine with 64 MB of RAM (memory), or a Macintosh (PowerMac upwards) again with 64MB of RAM. If you can go higher ... do.

Throw away that old modem
