20 STEPS TO
BUILDING A WEBSITE

A 20 step-by-step Guide was produced for the various Arab NGOs and journalists involved with the Thomson Foundation Middle East project to help them to build simple and effective global websites for their organisations.

The authorof the Guide, Julie McCreadie of McCreadie Media Services, is also a Thomson Foundation consultant, trainer and former Web Editor now based in London. She ran design and build workshops in each of the participating countries and the Guide was written as a working reference and an aid for local trainers to train others.

Two software packages were used; Dreamweaver to design and build the web pages and Fireworks to prepare pictures for the web. Macromedia Studio MX is a suite of software - Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Freehand - which can all add new dimensions to your website pages. The Guide was produced in both Arabic and English.
