The passion fruit flower typifies the beauty of the flora and fauna in Sierra Leone. There are many others adding colour and vibrancy, as well as perfume, to this warm tropical environment.

Mount Bintumani, the highest peak in the country offers climbers a wonderful opportunity to see the plants and trees on the higher slopes.

Other places to visit for flora and fauna include Lake Sofon in the Koinadugu district; the untouched Mamunta-Mayaso National Park, Gola Forest Reserve and Tiwai Island in the south.

The Outamba Kilimi National Park needs repair from the ravages of th war, but there are plans to improve connecting roads.
