Refurbishment of the National Stadium is complete and it has been re-opened for major sports events. Facilities include a running track, football pitch, swimminmg pool, gymnasium, tennis and volley ball courts.

The Chinese government donated ten million yen for the project as well as Chinese expertise. This is the second refurbishment since the stadium opened in 1979.
