There are some women who are happy to show their feelings and promote what they do - like this group pictured at the Commonweath Day celebrations in Yaounde.
But other women are not so sure:

Mrs Suzanne Mbom, housewife
I have heard about the Commonwealth, but I don't know whether they care about the problems for women in Cameroon. You know that most women in developing countries don't have the chance to go school so it would help if training centres could be built for women.

Mrs Louisa, Secretary in the Italian Embassy
About Commonwealth, I hope that they will include gender issues in their programme in Cameroon so that they can help women to be developed.

Miss Christel , student
What I know about Commonwealth is that they used to give scholarships to students. I don't know if women are a priority for them, but I hope that they can do something special for us. All of you know that the poorest people on the earth are women. I hope sincerely that they take womens problems into consideration.

Morgane T, French diplomat
I don't have a particular interest in the Commonwealth, but what I notice is that the English language is invading the Francophone part of Cameroon. We, francophones or French have to work hard to maintain the French level.
