The
Opening Ceremony
Cameroon's first web publishing course for journalists was opened by Mr
Ahmadou Paul, Secretary General of the Ministry of Communication (right)
who was introduced by Dr June Rollinson, Director of the British Council,
Cameroon. Dr Rollinson spoke about a new generation of journalists who were
moving onto the internet with their publishing skills.
The
Trainer
Ms Julie McCreadie, consultant and trainer from the Thomson Foundation
in the UK said how pleased and excited she was to be in Cameroon with
the prospect of working with 15 journalists to produce a web site during
the course of the two week workshop. She told visitors that the group
planned to produce a web site centred around Commonwealth week activities
and have it online after the workshop "for
all the world to see".
"Perhaps we're being a little ambitious - we'll see!"
she added.
Where was it held?
The course was held in the Cyber Centre of the British Council in Yaounde
- Cameroon, situated on Avenue Charles de Gaulle, Immeuble Christo. It
was the first of its kind for journalists in Bilingual Cameroon.
