Commonwealth provides assistance crucial for Cameroon's Development - says Dion Ngute

Q: What can you say have been the achievements of the Commonwealth in Cameroon in the last six years?

Dion Ngute: The Commonwealth Fund for Technical Cooperation (CFTC), for example, sent a seismologist during the eruption of Mount Cameroon. The Fund has also provided lecturers to the University of Buea as well as assistance for electoral matters.

About 15 Cameroonians are annually granted scholarships to study in Great Britain, Canada and South Africa. In addition, Cameroonian professionals benefit from Commonwealth fellowships to attend seminars and workshops in sectors that are crucial for Cameroon's development.

So far, more than 300 Cameroonians have benefitted from Commonwealth programmes. In financial terms, Commonwealth assistance can be evaluated at about FCFA 700 million.
