Let's bring our scholars home!

Selection of candidates is based on merit, but other factors like age, regional representation and gender are considered.

Grant winners are expected to return to Cameroon and help develop the country. However, some of them complete studies and reapply to further their education; others stay abroad and work there, or move to greener pastures. Perhaps, it is now time that the Cameroonian and Commonwealth grant-issuing authorities sought better ways to ensure that grant winners do actually return home to serve their country.

Commonwealth scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis by the grant-issuing countries and advertised in Cameroon by the Commonwealth scholarship service in the Ministry of Higher Education. See table of grants for Cameroon - period 1997 to 2001.
