The Commonwealth and NGOs in Cameroon (continued)

The Commonwealth therefore lends support to some non-governmental bodies in Cameroon that are making efforts to assist the State in developmental issues. The assistance is given in the form of logistics as well as finance.

Organisations in Cameroon which have received Commonwealth grants include Buma Kor & Co Book Distributors and MIPROMALO, which is involved in the development and promotion of local building material. These organisations were present and exhibited their products at the 2001 Commonwealth Day celebrations in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Bearing in mind that the theme of this year's Commonwealth Day was 'The New Generation', it is important to note that the activities of non-governmental organisations will go a long way to help realise the dream of a better future for the citizens of not only first and foremost the member countries, but the world .

Besides the assistance given to NGOs, the Commonwealth has also taken steps to promote education in Cameroon.
