Educational projects

Summer 2002 at
St James & St Michael

For the past 2 years the Band has led a course at Dartington International Summer School called ‘Baroque No limits’ which is an introduction to 18th century performance practice.

February 2003

A song-writing project for children at Great Ormond Street Hospital School, for the Handel House Museum, where the Band worked with an artist and a drama teacher to help the children produce songs on a CD.

October 2002

A baroque orchestra project where the Brook Street Band coached a chamber orchestra of young musicians, selected by Camden Music Services, in aspects of historical performance.

 

 

 

March 25-27 2002

In conjuction with the Handel House MuseumWater Music with Burdett Coutts School, London SW1

These workshops were designed to give instrumentalists (all ages and abilities, soloists and chamber groups welcomed) the chance to learn more about the baroque masters through playing their music.

Coached by members of The Brook Street Band, participants could bring their own music or choose from a repertoire to include music by Handel, Bach, Purcell, Vivaldi and many more; learning more about the music, its history and playing in a historically informed style.

Players on both modern and period instruments welcomed.

The band also offered individual tuition and ensemble coaching.
