The Brook Street Band runs education projects that range from composition based workshops which require little or no musical knowledge by the children through to coaching on prepared music at all levels.
For
Camden Music Services, in conjunction with the Handel House Museum,
The Brook Street Band coached a chamber orchestra in performance practice
and techniques leading to a concert and elsewhere they have given masterclasses
to more advanced students. The Brook Street Band has worked in over 20 London schools and for education services around England. It has received funding specifically for education work from Arts for Everyone Express from the Arts Council of England through the National Lottery. Amongst its educational projects is Doorways - a project for schoolchildren of mixed ages and abilities, to create their own music and song based around early music. This is run with composer and educationalist David Bedford, and is a specific project with further details available on request. The Brook Street Band also offers tailor-made projects to suit schools and community groups, including creative workshops, masterclasses, lecture recitals, instrumental and orchestral coaching (on modern and period instruments). Projects can be combined to include dancers, theatre directors, composers and visual artists.
