Theo provides a historical background, and performs parts of the Suites,
giving visitors valuable insights into Bach's masterpiece and the instrument
itself. This event is part of the Museum's Getting a Closer Look series
for visually impaired visitors,
A programme for soprano, flute/recorder, cello and harpsichord celebrating the diversity within Handel's music and exploring French, Italian and German influences on England's greatest 'naturalised' composer.
The
Inventive Violin: This event is a composition workshop led by an artist from The Brook Street Band, which will enable young violinists to play baroque music and learn about the baroque style. Using a baroque piece as a starting point, they will then be invited to use their imaginations and experiment with a variety of sounds and musical ideas, leading to some composition work. Students will work with towards a short performance which parents will be welcome to attend. Max 15 students aged 16 and under (Grade 3 upwards).
The
Violin Story: This event is designed to give an overview of the history of the violin, with musical illustrations that present a range of musical styles. An artist from the Brook Street Band will take the session and bring in a variety of violins to show visitors. Pre-booking essential for both events. Ticket holders only. Free for young people aged 16 and under, adult admission applies (£4.50 adults, £3.50 concessions). These events have been organised in association with the Genius of the Violin Festival.
