Carolyn Gibley - harpsichord Carolyn studied at Chetham's School of Music, Manchester, and went on to read music at the University of East Anglia where she held the Timothy Coleman Scholarship. She then completed a postgraduate course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. There she helped form the award-winning Carolinian Consort, winners of the Van Vlaanderen Competition in Amsterdam and the Bruges Early Music Competition. Carolyn has researched and prepared performing scores of the vocal cantatas of, amongst others, Luigi Rossi. Along with her solo work, which includes a recording for BBC Radio of early keyboard music, and several concertos, most notably Bach's fifth Brandenburg Concerto in St Martin-in-the-fields and at the Henley Festival, she is also in demand as an accompanist and continuo player which has taken her as far afield as Japan to accompany singers in the International Early Music Competition. Carolyn is a regular accompanist for the Royal College of Music, the Royal Academy of Music and Roehampton Institute. She is harpsichord tutor at Morley College. |
