Since leaving college, John has been involved in the Construction Industry at various levels. He trained as a Quantity Surveyor and developed his career as a Project Manager. He held key positions as a Major Contractor and Construction Manager before starting his own business and founder of Elliott Thomas Ltd.

John’s track record is entreprenerial having achieved Director level designate of a large Project Management Company at the age of 26. He recognised that the Construction Industry needed innovation in the field of logisitics. Elliott Thomas with a turnover of some £30m in just 5 years from inception is commendable and was rewarded by Building Magazine with the converted “Specialist Contractor of the Year Award 2006”

The company appeared in The Times Newspaper Fast Track 100 companies in the United Kingdom in 2007.

In addition to this achievement, John works closely with a Private Venture Capital Company to add further companies to his portfolio of Specialist Contractors.

John now holds a 50% stake in a £60m holding company SCG “Specialist Contractor Group Ltd” which owns the following contractors:-

• Elliott Thomas Ltd incorporating Taylor’s Hoists
• Rock International Holdings Ltd
• Rainsford Contracts Ltd
