Bywaters provided all of the waste management equipment and influenced the recycling products on the site of the build of One Churchill Place for Barclays.

The containers used on the site ranged from 660 litre wheeled containers through to compaction containers. At each stage of the build, waste was assessed and the site was provided with the most suitable containers.

The approach taken for this build was to segregate on-site and use the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) at Bywaters' Gateway Road site to maximise recycling.

The site was commended an award of "Excellent" by the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method):

"This site has an excellent waste management system in operation, with sorting and recycling taking place on site during the construction of One Churchill Place where possible and the remainder of waste being taken for recycling by Bywaters. This scheme enabled Canary Wharf Contractors Ltd to make considerable savings by recycling on site."
